Become a Friend
Become a Friend of the River Dee today
Whether you enjoy the river regularly or are visiting for the first time, we are sure you will agree that the River Dee is very special, and a resource we want to protect for future generations. You can help us achieve this by becoming a Friend of the River Dee today for just £5 per month or £60 per year.
The Challenge
The River Dee is an internationally important environment and designated as a Special Area of Conservation to protect its populations of Atlantic salmon, otter and freshwater pearl mussel, as well as many other species of wildlife and native plants. The river is under increasing pressure from high temperatures, extreme weather events such as floods and droughts and the loss of hard winters and vital snow melt. Two of the three protected species are at risk of extinction. Its wildlife needs cool, clean water and shade to mitigate the risk of climate change.
The Response
The River Dee Trust has already delivered award-winning nature restoration projects and we have huge ambition to deliver much more in response to this major threat to this beautiful part of Scotland and potential extinction of key species.
